Sunshine and Stamps!

Oh my goodness-the sunshine is like a drug...a really really gooood drug!
And I listed new stamps today....i have a confession to make,
-i-like-stamps...no wait, L-O-V-E..I LOVE stamps.

There I said it..i feel so much better now. At first I was kind of a snob about clear stamps, didn't really like them, thought they were just a
wannabe..you know. But I have to admit-the affordability of manufacturing acrylic stamps has really opened up the market for some FABULOUS designs-designs you would never see in wood mounted RUBBER because the cost to manufacture rubber is higher.I still think in the long run,the rubber will last longer and if you do ALOT of stamping(like if you make cards for a living and are likely to use a stamp hundreds and hundreds of times) you should invest in rubber whenever possible but clear stamps have their place. Especially when you can get designs like these...the first two are from Tattered Angels and the stamps are HUGE-that butterfly is 6" across! The leaf in the other set is 4" long so the owls, dragonfly and butterfly are even bigger-crazy cool! The next one is from Bo Bunny-they used to be strictly "cutesy" but their stamp designs have come a long way-the bigger sets are in a CD storage case-I also have a couple of their smaller sets in my Ebay store.
And the last set..ok I KNOW its CUTE,sometimes you can't resist cuteness and these are done so well. I also listed some sets from Unity-they are pretty darn awesome.
Ok back to the sunbeam!

Thank You Hero Arts!!

A big thanks to Hero Arts for choosing me as their FRESH FACE winner for the first half of January...I was flabbergasted when I saw their blog with my cards on it...exactly the kind of boost I needed right now....
http://heroarts.com/blogs/club/2010/01/21/friendship-valentines-challenge-winners/

and here is a little taste of what has gone into my Ebay store this week...lots more to add and lots more to see...as always,if you don't feel comfortable using Ebay just let me know and we can work something out. I got a few colors of Shimmerz to try out, they are a waterbased shimmery paint that dries on almost all surfaces, they are thicker than water colors but thinner than acrylics and VERY shimmery!

My favorite tool-the Tim Holtz edge distresser-love this thing!
My favorite black ink pad-nice dark black, good coverage, doesn't bleed when you use copics or watercolors on it.
My new favorite color-GRAY! I got the Stazon in this soft dove gray and a darker stone gray.
Another favorite tool-great for adding ink tot he edges of your pages to distress them-also good for applying a fast coat of paint to a paper without getting your hands messy.
And this little gem has been on back order since last Fall-it is a small tin with a strip of"film strip"-they call it ribbon but it is actually plastic, just like real film, very very cool!

I'll post some photos of the stamp sets after I get them listed. Are you seeing all the new stuff being released at the Craft and Hobby Show this weekend?? OH MY...the Tim Holtz line is KILLING me...the papers!!!!! The dies, the stamps,etc.........oh yes-it will all be available here ASAP!! If there is anything you'd like to pre order just say the word!

Facebook

Are you on Facebook?? If so i created a Facebook Fan Page for my business...I have no idea how to create a link to it but if you are on FB just do a search for Morning Sun Studio...make sure you click on "become a fan". I will be posting whenever I have new items in the Ebay store plus card ideas.
I will be listing lots of new stuff tomorrow-ink pads, reinkers, some Tim Holtz stuff, some clear stamp sets, and much more. I will be ordering stamps from Impression Obsession tomorrow also so they should be here with a week or two. Next month I will be getting all NEW tim Holtz stamps and as soon as I can get my hands on them the new Tim Holtz Sizzix embossing folders and dies.
Ok-off to spend the day with my Mom...

More watercolor fun

Still playing with the Twinkling H2O's-love the vibrant colors unlike regular watercolors that can look so "washed out" unless you buy really high quality paint. And of course I love the shimmer!
This is a TALL card-81/2" high X less than 4" wide. I am attracted to lots of white space right now=its clean and graphic....uncluttered. Wish I could keep my house like that-its a constant struggle to keep flat surfaces clear.

My Sunny Valentine

Non traditional colors but the love is there...heart is from Hero Arts, sentiment is from Printworks, the edges were distressed with the Tim Holtz distresser (love that thing!)-the watercolors are Twinkling H2O's so they are shimmery in real life. I also used the H2O's on the heart stamp-this takes some practice-I stamped three hearts before I got one that looked good!

a little love...

I had a dream about this card-it didn't turn out exactly how I pictured so i may need to try again but I am OK with it, I like the informality, the watercolors are shimmery in real life. I wanted bigger eyelets but I didn't have any. What do you think?

Stitchin'

First of all-we have a bit of snow(like 4-5 feet) then we got ice on top of that and now we have 4-5 inches of snow on top of the ice on top of that snow-Mother Nature has lost her ever lovin' mind! This photo is straight out of the camera-unedited...the ice encasing a seed head in my garden, isn't it weird, looks almost like someone drew it??
And this has been the only creative thing I've accomplished this week(unless you include creative ways to stay warm??) I am working on a patchwork type of sampler-my inspirations being http://rebeccasower.typepad.com/rs_out_of_hand/
and http://www.pamgarrison.typepad.com/
both of whom have been working on some wonderful projects.
So this is piece one...inside the lace piece I stitched some of my sister's potpourri, the velvet piece is something I found in all her stuff after she died-there were several of these pieces cut up-maybe she planned to make a crazy quilt? I don't know but I couldn't throw them away. It's all stitched down to a piece of Aida cloth and accented with some white buttons from my stash. The stitching is not meant to be perfect because then it would be too much like work instead of relaxing play(by the way PLAY is my word for 2010)

OK back to play(sounds much better than "back to work" huh?)
